American Express isn’t done growing its Centurion Lounge network.
On Wednesday, the issuer announced another major expansion, including a new full-service lounge, a second Sidecar outpost, and a much-needed renovation and expansion of one of its busiest lounges.
Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming Centurion Lounge spaces.
American Express Centurion Lounge Boston
Estimated opening: 2029

Let’s start with the biggest news: Amex will open its first outpost at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS).
The 20,000-square-foot space will span two stories and feature a rare Centurion Lounge amenity: an outdoor terrace. The only other Amex outpost with this feature is in Atlanta, so it’s great to see the issuer bringing it to another airport.
Amex says the space will be inspired by Boston’s history and coastal geography, with design touches that reference the city’s green spaces, harbor views, and academic legacy.
Travelers can also expect the usual lounge staples, including dedicated workstations, tasty food and drinks, high-speed Wi-Fi, and multiple seating areas.
The lounge is slated to open in 2029 and will be located in Terminal C.
News of the lounge first surfaced when Amex applied to lease the space from Massport, the agency that runs BOS.
Either way, it’s good to now have official confirmation that the lounge is coming — even if the wait is a long one.
Sidecar by Centurion Lounge Charlotte
Estimated opening: 2027

Amex will also bring its new Sidecar concept to Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT).
This smaller, dining-focused outpost is designed for travelers who want a quick bite before their flight. Like the first Sidecar in Las Vegas, guests will order small plates, drinks, and wine via QR code, and menu items will arrive within minutes.
Sidecar is designed to boost throughput and expand the lounge’s overall capacity, so it’s great to see Amex open a second location in Charlotte.
The issuer’s existing lounge in CLT is almost always operates with a waitlist, so this should be a welcome addition, especially for travelers connecting between American Airlines flights.
The 4,600-square-foot space will draw inspiration from Charlotte’s heritage. It’ll also include a Blue Roast by American Express coffee bar — currently available in New York and Seattle — along with private restrooms, power outlets, USB ports, and free Wi-Fi.
This outpost is set to open next year in Concourse A.
Like BOS, news of this outpost first leaked in city planning documents.
American Express Centurion Lounge Dallas Fort Worth
Estimated opening: 2027

Amex will also renovate and expand its second-ever Centurion Lounge at the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).
The footprint will grow by nearly 50%, a much-needed move to help combat overcrowding. Amex says it’ll add more seating, a new dining area, and a second full-service bar.
One of the most exciting additions will be a walk-up ice cream window. Even if Amex still isn’t ready to launch a dedicated grab-and-go concept, this at least gives travelers something quick and sweet before boarding.
The issuer also plans to refresh the lounge’s design with more modern finishes and warm desert tones.
The Centurion Lounge at DFW will remain in Terminal D near Gate D12, and the expansion is expected to debut in 2027. Amex says travelers should expect “periods of reduced capacity or temporary adjustments” at the existing location while construction is underway.
How to access Amex Centurion Lounges
As with any Centurion Lounge, those with the American Express Platinum Card® or The Business Platinum Card® from American Express have complimentary access.
(Note that unless you meet a $75,000 annual spending requirement on your card, you’ll pay $50 per adult guest and $30 per child (ages 2 to 17). Children under 2 can enter for free.)
Those with some of Delta’s most premium cards can also use this facility before their same-day Delta-marketed or -operated flight.
Note that to access Sidecar, you’ll only be admitted within 90 minutes of your departing flight. All other lounge access policies remain the same.

Upcoming Centurion Lounges
In addition to the aforementioned lounges, Amex has two more upcoming openings.
Amex Centurion Lounge Newark
Estimated opening: 2026

American Express is opening a Centurion Lounge at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). This will give the issuer a presence at all three major New York-area airports.
The new outpost is slated for Terminal A and will measure 17,000 square feet. It’ll feature a 1,400-square-foot indoor terrace with airfield and Manhattan sightline views. Amex also says the space will feature a cocktail bar and piano lounge inspired by New Jersey’s jazz history, along with a quieter archival collection showcasing artifacts tied to the state’s culture and history.
Amex Centurion Lounge Amsterdam
Estimated opening: 2026

Amex is adding Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) to its growing Centurion Lounge network, giving the issuer another foothold in Europe. The new outpost is slated to open this year between Concourses E and F, and it’ll mark Amex’s third European Centurion Lounge.
Amex says the lounge will feature Dutch-inspired design, local art, floor-to-ceiling windows, and food and drinks with a regional focus. The issuer is also planning a dedicated coffee bar.
At 6,000 square feet, the Amsterdam location will be one of the smaller lounges in the network, which could make it especially busy at one of Europe’s largest airports.
Bottom line
It’s great to see Amex continuing to invest in larger, more modern spaces.
While Capital One and Chase are still in buildout mode, Amex has a decade-long head start that it’s using to strengthen its lead with strategic expansions, renovations, and new lounge formats.
I’m especially excited to see Sidecar expand beyond Las Vegas, and I hope more locations are on the way.
That said, I’ll be honest: Even with new and larger spaces, overcrowding isn’t going anywhere.
There’s still a structural imbalance between supply and demand during peak travel periods. But with these additions, cardmembers should at least have a better shot at getting in.

It’s great to see Amex continuing to expand the Centurion Lounge experience, especially with a full-service lounge in Boston and the Charlotte Sidecar addition. These updates really enhance the value for cardmembers who travel frequently. The renovation at Dallas Fort Worth is also a welcome touch, making the lounge feel fresh and modern for its users.
